On December 30, 2022, Merchants & Marine Bank Retail Banker, Mrs. Shirley Massey, celebrates her retirement after 30 years of dedicated and faithful service to Merchants & Marine Bank and the Wade community. As soon as she started with Merchants & Marine Bank, she began forging a lasting imprint on our bank’s family and clients. Many folks in the community know Mrs. Massey as their Retail Banker, but to those who visit our Wade office she is known for her unending willingness to help and her contagious smile. Mrs. Shirley has been a true asset to our community and has built lasting relationships with her team members and her clients.
Mrs. Massey knew as a young child that she would serve her community in the banking atmosphere. After being hired at Merchants & Marine Bank by Mr. Charlie Morie she knew that the spirit of the bank and her passion for people would move her to serve our community for years to come. “I have truly enjoyed visiting with everyone that has crossed my path here,” Massey said. “We are family. We’ve laughed together, cried together, prayed together and certainly shared our lives and stories together. I will miss our clients. I will miss getting to help them.”
“Upon my retirement, I’m looking forward to enjoying the rest of my golden years and sharing them with my husband of 32 years, John Massey,” says Mrs. Shirley. “I want to spend time with our grandchildren, volunteer at their schools, and I am even excited to finish some projects at our home.”
As Mrs. Massey embarks upon her retirement, the Merchants & Marine Bank family salutes her long and impactful career. We honor her for her outstanding contributions and dedicated service to our community bank. She leaves an indelible mark on Merchants & Marine Bank and the communities we serve. We are proud to have had Mrs. Massey as part of our bank family for 33 years and we wish her and her beautiful family much happiness during the rest of her ‘golden’ years.
