Bankers Walk the Walk, Sing the Songs to Raise $5,000 for American Heart Association

Merchants & Marine Bank employees, friends and family gathered for fun, refreshments and to sing their hearts out at the Karaoke in the Courtyard event which took place at MMB’s flagship location in the heart of downtown Pascagoula on Thursday, April 21. Duets and solo acts took the stage to make their go-to songs their own before dropping the mic and raising money for the American Heart Association’s local Heart Walk.

Then on Saturday, April 23, MMB team members laced up their sneakers for the Matters of the Heart challenge, a 3.1-mile trek around beautiful Pascagoula Beach Park. All MMB participants completed the loop with no problem.

Before the first note was sung or the first step taken, MMB employees coordinated bake sales and raffles in the branches and within their own departments to kickstart fundraising efforts. Those bank-wide team efforts paid off as they achieved their $5,000 goal!

Caretta Hall, manager of our Ocean Springs branch and team lead for AHA fundraising events, is accompanied by her husband, Kevin, during Karoake in the Courtyard.

“Heart health impacts every community, and as a Bank that believes in making a difference in the places where we live and work, supporting the American Heart Association makes sense. Thank you and congratulations to everyone who participated,” said Jeff Trammell, MMB’s Chief Risk Officer and a member of the 2022 Jackson County Heart Walk executive leadership team. A special thanks goes out to Caretta Hall, who was the heartbeat of the MMB team, recruiting walkers and leading the way on all  bank-wide fundraising efforts.

It’s not too late to support the Jackson County Heart Walk and help the local team reach their $200,000 goal! You can donate here.
