PASCAGOULA, Mississippi – Clayton Legear, President and CEO of Merchants & Marine Bank, has been elected to the Mississippi Bankers Association Board of Directors.
Established in 1889, The Mississippi Bankers Association (MBA) is a private membership organization which brings together and represents banks and savings institutions in the State of Mississippi. Through seminars and conferences, The MBA seeks to cultivate better communities by developing better bankers.
Legear has served The MBA in the past as a member of the Legislative Committee and as a member and Chair of the Education Committee. He currently serves as a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Community Depository Institution Advisory Council (CDIAC), as well as a governor-appointed member of the Mississippi State Board of Banking Review.
During this three-year term, Legear will represent his region of the state on the Board, which governs the 133-year-old association. MBA’s membership includes commercial banks and savings institutions operating in Mississippi, and the association’s members hold over 95 percent of bank deposits in the state.
“I am honored to serve The Mississippi Bankers Association in this new capacity.” says Legear “During my time at Merchants & Marine Bank, I have seen the impact that better bankers make on our communities. I am grateful to be a part of an organization that aligns with the hopes that I have for my family, friends, colleagues, and the great state of Mississippi.”
